Sylvi Lane is a "free spirit". She takes inspiration from major events and everyday moments. Her original compositions can be heard on her website and on her CD “In the palm of my hand”, recorded with Michiel Borstlap, Anton Drukker and Joost Lijbaart. Whether working with young talent, in workshops, or as professor at the Conservatories of Amsterdam and of Alkmaar, she finds it a source of inspiration, of giving and receiving. Energy, “The Thrill”. That means being open to the ideas of others or of the audience. From all your experiences you can learn, and you can be energised. It's life enrichment, as she sometimes says. This started very early: Sylvi Lane grew up among the performers and the audience in her parents' theater club. Since then she has been on stage herself for almost twenty-five years, in Holland and abroad, from theaters and jazz clubs to TV programs and recording studios. Sylvi Lane is an energetic all-round vocalist. In JazzinBusiness she talks about leadership. In a band, the listener often perceives the singer as the leader. But jazz is different.
