Armand van Middendorp: Armand van Middendorp

Armand van Middendorp has a passion for drumming. He plays in various ensembles and teaches at the Rhythm Factory in Werkhoven. Armand has been drumming since he was 6, at first on Tupperwaretm, but soon on a real drum set. He has studied with Fred van Vloten in Holland and in New York with Ian Froman, Kim Plainfield, Adriano Santos and Pete Retzlaff. He chose to specialize in jazz. Armand lets you see and hear how, by asking a musical question and listening intently, you automatically receive insights that translate into a unique solo. Armand also gives his views on how by using a foundation of “woodshedding” and by learning standards you can create the maximum space for improvising. Armand: "In a jazz band everyone is leader and accompanist."
