Paul Berner thinks, feels and lives in music. He has been making music since he was 13. After receiving a Bachelor in Music at the University of Iowa and a Masters degree from Indiana University, he worked as jazz bassist in New York with Lionel Hampton and with Monty Alexander, among many others. Paul has lived in the Netherlands since 1990, where he plays with top artists such as Toots Thielemans, Jesse Ruller, Cor Bakker and Laura Fygi. He also has accompanied Shirley Bassey and George Coleman, among others. In the Workshop Paul lets you experience what it is like to continuously break out of old routines. About the courage one needs to improvise, he says: "Trust is that there is a melody in the music and go find."
